School Board Member Vacancy
In conformity with Illinois School Code, 105 ILCS 5/10-10, the Board of Education of Vienna Elementary School District No. 55, County of Johnson, hereby gives notice that it will accept letters of interest from individuals who would like to be considered for appointment by the Board to fill one (1) vacancy on the Board of Education. The persons selected will serve until the next regular school board election scheduled in 2029, at which time candidates will be elected for those positions.
Qualifications: A candidate for the position must:
a) be a citizen of the United States; and b) be of the age of 18 years or over; and c) be a resident of the State of Illinois and of the Vienna Elementary School District No. 55; and d) be a registered voter, as provided by the general election law.
Interested persons must file a letter of interest addressed to Sherie Smith, Board President, Vienna Public School District No. 55, 310 North 3rd Street, Vienna, Illinois. Letters of interest must be received in the District office no later than 4 p.m. on Friday, January 9th, 2026. The Board will notify the applicant of the procedure to be followed if selected for an interview.
